Cross Platform (Mac, Windows, Linux)

• Eclipse IDE (Free and Open Source): You will need a PHP plugin to get the extra goodness. There are two available: PDT and PHPEclipse, with PDT being more up to date with the latest Eclipse right now. You can get an all-in-one Eclipse bundle with PDT from the PDT downloads page and with PHPEclipse from EasyEclipse.
• jEdit (Free and Open Source): This is another editor that has plugins available to customize. Here is a good SitePoint article that covers installing and setting up jEdit for PHP.
• Komodo Edit (Free)
• Komodo IDE ($$): Comes with a PHP debugger.
• Zend Studio IDE ($$): Also has a PHP debugger.
