Photoshop Tutorial
Why do I need an image editor to be a web diva? Because images sized to fit your page look better and work better.
- Rule 1: Appearance: Photoshop or other image editors do a better job of shrinking an image than the web browser.
- Rule 2: Size: Smaller images load faster and you want to be kind to your users by making them wait only as long as required.
Look at the following examples until you can see the quality differences between each:

Original Image: 1170x570 pixels displayed as 281x137
(562 kb in jpg)

Re-sized image: actual size and screen size
is 281x137 pixels (7kb in jpg)

Image resized as above, then sharpened (77kb in jpg)
Use This Photo (right click top, large photo and download to U drive or desktop)
Use these Photoshop Instructions to perform the following basic tasks:
- size: image size, canvas size, crop, resolution (use 72pixels/inch for web)
- adjusting view and layers
- adjustments: brightness/contrast, filter: sharpen
- save as types: psd, gif, jpg, png

Note that .psd format will NOT display on the web but is a photoshop native format and is lossless. Good for the master copy to keep on your source folder off line if you use Photoshop.
