First Term Projects
The following fictitious Bellingham businesses are looking for a web site proposal from you! The final delivery will consist of 3-5 web pages including at least one team page and one page variant developed solely by each team member. Feel free to use sample text to show layout and subject areas of your text - you don't have to write all the copy - just enough so we'll understand what the page is for.
The site will have consistent navigation throughout the site and will be compliant with CSS and XHTML Transitional standards. The site will contain appropriately prepared images and or graphics. (Since these web sites will remain private, for the purposes of this project you may "borrow" these images from other sources, but please provide attribution including url or where you found each one.) Although you will work on the site concept and home page with a team, each team member will be solely responsible for at least one of the underlying pages which can either be a design or layout variant of the home page.
If your team wishes to create their own fictitious company or project, your team must first present for approval from me a similar profile as those below. Please include a company name and brief description that indicates the style and purpose which you are designing to. For this first term this cannot be a real company or project.
Fish and Clips
This high end hair salon features tanks of fishes to create a relaxing atmosphere in its downtown Bellingham location. They want to appeal to the younger side of the high-end audience with a fun but luxurious atmosphere.
Maude Byrnes
Maude sells her nature photography from her store front in Fairhaven as well as by mail-order. Eventually she hopes to sell online but for now she just wants a personal online showcase for her works that reveals the sensitive and powerful nature of her work.
Alberg, Applethorne, and Folkes
This accounting firm wants to promote a conservative, solid feel to their web site while still conveying their technical knowledge with accounting software packages. Nothing flashy but classy and knowledgeable is their style.
BrianBuys
This is a fast-moving hard-selling business that wants to expand their eBay and online selling consulting business. Since they're more concerned with catching your attention than with the way you feel about them, your job will be to make their pitch compelling without being tacky.

This young alternative site features reviews and schedules for local upcoming bands. It's hip, young, and a little outrageous.
WoolGathering
This knitting and yarn shop features hand-made yarns in addition to a wide-range of commercial natural fiber yarns. As well as for-pay classes they also feature "woolgatherings" that allow newer knitters to mix with more experienced knitters in a casual friendly environment in the front area of the shop. They want the site to help draw people to the store and the knitting sessions.
JavaJive
This coffee shop has an online site to encourage participation in community events as well as the standard hours, location, etc. In addition to serving the finest coffee, they want to be a home away from home for their loyal clients and new guests.
